Calder Investment Advisors' 401(k) Plan
We appreciate your interest in the Calder Investment Advisors’ retirement plan.  A quality, well-
managed retirement plan is an important factor in attracting and retaining key employees as
well as a way to provide for the financial well being of your employees.

This information will focus on the primary elements of a successful retirement plan and will
provide you with some insight into our approach and focus on each of these elements.
The Calder Investment Advisors’ 401(k) Plan

Have you ever heard anyone say, “You can’t please everyone.”  Well, we believe that with our
retirement plan we can please everyone.  Our plan is the most flexible plan on the market.
Whether you are high net worth individual with a large retirement plan balance, you are a savvy
investor, or are just starting out with your first $50 contribution; we have an option to make each
of them happy.  We can offer plan participants the following choices:

Option #1 - A roster of participant directed mutual funds
Option #2 - Professionally managed investment models
    Option #3 - A self-directed discount brokerage account
Option #1 - Roster of Participant Directed Mutual
Funds
The standard 401(k) plan offers participants a list of core mutual funds.  A good 401(k) plan will
have a diverse list of fund choices.  The selection should offer LargeCap, MidCap, and
SmallCap funds with value and growth stock options in each segment.  Add a variety of bond
fund options, international funds and a money market fund and the roster is complete.

Calder Investment Advisors’ 401(k) plan also offers your employees a roster of mutual funds
that allows them to self-direct their retirement assets.  Yet, our plan is significantly different from
the plans you are used to seeing.  Here is how the Calder Investment Advisors’ 401(k) plan is
different.

  • We have access to over 5,500 funds from over 400 fund families through the Fidelity
Institutional Funds Network®.  The freedom to choose from such a large list allows us
to offer the top performing funds, a diverse roster of investment choices, and allows us
to add funds preferred by your trustees.  The following is a list of some of the funds we
currently use in many of our retirement plans.

  • We can offer employees index funds.  Because of the way our plan is structured, we are
able to offer a variety of low cost index funds for employees that believe indexing is the
best way to invest.  Index funds also offer the lowest internal fund fees because of their
passive management styles.  Some plans just can’t offer index funds.

  • We can also provide you with a customized list of mutual funds.  If you are partial to a
particular fund family, we can add that fund to your roster.  If you have a desire for
specialty funds that focus on things such as such as REITs, precious metals, lifestyle
funds, etc, we can add these types of funds to your roster.
Option #2 - Professionally Managed Investment Models
Many employees do not have the time, talent, or desire to manage the investments in their 401
(k) account.  That is why we offer your employees five diversified, managed investment
portfolios.

Each managed model portfolio is established based on a specific asset allocation.  Once an
employee selects an asset allocation model (based on the results of the employee’s
investment planning test results), Calder Investment Advisors does the rest.  We manage the
portfolio for all the participants in that model.  We handle the selection of funds, allocate your
assets into investments with various style characteristics, rebalance the account to maintain
asset allocation, and replace poor performing mutual funds in the portfolio as is necessary.

Every employee can benefit from active management of his or her mutual fund portfolio.  No
more guessing which fund is best for their account.  No more struggling over asset allocation
decisions.  No more tracking fund performance within their peer group.  No more wondering if
the fund’s new manager will provide the same rate of return as the previous manager.  Calder
Investment Advisors takes care of all these worries.

The five managed portfolios are Capital Preservation, Moderate Growth, Wealth Building,
Aggressive Growth, and Market Leaders.

    Capital Preservation Strategy  -  20% stocks & 80% bonds

    Moderate Growth Strategy  -  50% stocks & 50% bonds

    Wealth Building Strategy  -  70% stocks & 30% bonds

Aggressive Appreciation Strategy  -  100% stocks

Market Leaders  -  an active asset allocation program that seeks to invest in the two top
    performing sectors of the market

Option #3 - Self-Directed Discount Brokerage Account
Some participants would like further options when managing their retirement portfolio.  They
may have a real passion for investing or they may wish to own a portfolio of individual equities.
Our 401(k) program allows participants to open an on-line brokerage account through
Fidelity.com and direct all or a portion of their retirement assets to this account.  The participant
makes all investment decisions in this account.

Inside this account, the participant would be able to buy or sell equities, bonds, mutual funds,
OTC stocks, preferred stocks, government bonds, foreign securities, CDs, and precious metals
on-line through Fidelity.com.

There is no additional fee for this option.  Participants are responsible for all transaction costs
associated with this account.  The current transaction fee to buy or sell an individual security is
$8 for the first 3,000 shares and $0.01 per share thereafter.

This is an optional program and you do not have to offer this option to employees.  We do
recommend that participants should be able to allocate a minimum of $25,000-$50,000 of their
401(k) account balance before undertaking a self-directed brokerage account.
Employee Education
We will introduce the plan and its portfolio options to your employees. Our staff is ready to
educate your employees on the benefits of their retirement plan and show them way to reach
their retirement goals.  We assist each employee in the process of selecting the proper
investment objective and then recommend a portfolio that fits the participants stated goals and
risk tolerance.

The staff at Calder Investment Advisors will meet regularly with your employees during the first
year and then as often as necessary from that point forward.  Additional meetings can be
scheduled to coincide with employee enrollment or as required to meet the needs of your
employees.  As always, we will be ready to meet individually or with a group of employees as
necessary.
On-line Account Access
Each employee can access their account on-line.  They can view their balance, check their rate
of return, change where their current assets are invested, change their deferral allocation and
check their transaction history.

If you would like to test out our on-line account access, please contact us.  We can provide you
with a user id and PIN that will allow you to test our on-line account access.
Employee Retirement Planning
Our program graphically shows employees if they will be able to meet their retirement income
goals or not.  This is available to all employees at no extra charge.  Should an employee wish
to have Calder Investment Advisors manage additional assets, a separate management
agreement will be established directly with that employee.

based, you will find that our investment professional’s work together to provide the highest
